Fashion trends may come and go, but the best accessories always seem to find their way back into our wardrobes. In 2026, one of the most timeless accessories of all is enjoying a well-deserved revival: the brooch.
Brooches are appearing on designer runways, red carpets, jackets, cardigans, button-down shirts, hats, scarves, and handbags. British Vogue described brooches as a personality-led jewelry trend taking over the Autumn/Winter 2026 catwalks, while Pinterest included Brooched in its official 2026 trend predictions.[1][2]
From a Personal Collection to a New Chapter
Some are elegant and sophisticated. Others are colorful, whimsical, sparkling, unusual, or wonderfully unexpected. A few are vintage treasures, while others are vintage-inspired or completely modern.
And yes—there are some I will probably never be able to part with!
What I love most about brooches is that each one has its own personality. They are miniature works of wearable art—small enough to fit in your hand but distinctive enough to transform an entire outfit.
That is what inspired me to create High Cotton Closet | The Brooch Collection as a special extension of the boutique.
The collection will feature a thoughtfully curated mix of:
- Vintage brooches
- Vintage-inspired designs
- Modern statement brooches
- Floral, animal, coastal, and figural styles
- Rhinestone, crystal, enamel, pearl, and mixed-metal pieces
- Elegant classics and playful conversation starters
Many pieces will be available in very limited quantities, and some will be completely one of a kind. When a particular brooch is gone, I may not be able to find another exactly like it.
Why Are Brooches Making a Comeback in 2026?
The modern return of the brooch is about more than nostalgia. After years of understated accessories and minimalist styling, many people are ready to bring personality, color, sentiment, and individuality back into their wardrobes.
Recent fashion coverage has shown brooches across collections from designers including Giorgio Armani, Tory Burch, and Ralph Lauren, while Harper’s Bazaar has highlighted creative placements that move well beyond the traditional jacket lapel.[3][4]
A brooch allows us to participate in a trend without replacing everything we already own. It can refresh a familiar blazer, add polish to a simple blouse, personalize a handbag, or make an everyday cardigan feel completely different.
Brooches Have No Age—or Size
At High Cotton Closet, I believe that style has no age limit. I also believe that beautiful accessories should not be restricted by clothing size, body shape, or a number on a label.
That is another reason brooches are such a natural fit for our brand.
A brooch does not ask whether you wear a size 8, 18, or 28. It simply adds beauty, polish, personality, and confidence to what you are already wearing.
For women who sometimes feel overlooked by fashion trends, accessories provide a wonderful way to participate without changing who we are or dressing like someone we are not.
A colorful statement brooch can brighten a neutral cardigan, add personality to denim, or become the finishing touch that makes a familiar look feel new again.
Modern Ways to Wear a Brooch
The traditional lapel placement will always be beautiful, but today’s styling is much more creative and relaxed. Harper’s Bazaar has featured brooches on tie-neck blouses, shirts, hats, jackets, and other unexpected placements.[3]
1. A Blazer or Denim Jacket
A brooch on a blazer lapel creates instant polish. On denim, it adds a beautiful contrast between casual and elegant.
2. A Button-Down Shirt
Place one near the collar, over the top button, or slightly off-center to transform a simple shirt.
3. A Cardigan
Use a brooch as decoration or to help hold a cardigan closed. It is an easy way to refresh a familiar sweater.
4. A Handbag or Scarf
Pin one to a fabric tote, a sturdy scarf, or a removable scarf tied around a bag handle. Test delicate materials first.
5. A Brooch Cluster
Group two or three smaller pieces by color, motif, or metal finish—or mix them freely to tell your own story.
6. Somewhere Unexpected
Try a brooch on a hat, shoulder, sturdy waistband, dress neckline, or blouse pocket. Modern styling is about personality.

I have always believed that style is found in the details. Sometimes it is the shape of a sleeve, the texture of a beautiful fabric, the perfect shoe—or one carefully chosen brooch.
A brooch can be elegant, sentimental, bold, playful, glamorous, or quietly meaningful. It can remind you of a place you love, an animal that makes you smile, a flower from your childhood, or someone special who once wore something similar.
They are more than decorations. They are conversation starters, keepsakes, expressions of personality, and little pieces of art that can travel with us through life.
